The Alexander C Smith Foundation was created from a place of profound love and unimaginable loss. After the tragic passing of my son, Alexander Smith, I knew I needed to find a way to carry forward the kindness, generosity, and gratitude that defined his life.  Alex was the kind of person who noticed others, who helped without being asked, and who appreciated every opportunity and experience he was given.  His heart for people — especially children and those in need — is the heartbeat of this foundation.

Our mission reflects the values Alex lived every day. We are committed to giving children the chance to explore, grow, and dream in ways that expand their world and strengthen their future. 

• A chance to explore — through summer camps and educational experiences that spark curiosity, confidence, and joy.

 • A foundation of stability — through financial assistance that helps families meet essential needs with dignity. 

• A pathway forward — through scholarships that open doors to higher education and lifelong opportunity.

These pillars are more than programs. They are a continuation of Alex’s spirit — his belief in helping others, his gratitude for the experiences he cherished, and his desire to make the world a little brighter for those around him.

This work is deeply personal. It is my way of honoring our son by ensuring that his compassion lives on in the lives of children and families who need support, hope, and opportunity.  When you give or share our mission, you become part of that legacy.   You help transform grief into growth, loss into love, and memory into meaningful change.
